How Landscape Lighting Transformed This Backyard Koi Pond At Night

For this recent project, our goal was to highlight the beauty of the homeowners’ koi pond while also improving safety and usability throughout the backyard space.

Underwater Uplighting for the Koi Pond

To create a stunning nighttime effect, we installed underwater uplights beneath the waterfalls and inside the koi pond. These fixtures illuminate the moving water from below, creating a glowing effect that instantly transforms the pond after dark.

The lighting also adds depth and texture to the natural stone surrounding the waterfalls, making the entire feature stand out from every angle in the backyard.

One of the best parts of underwater lighting is how it enhances the movement of the water. During the day, the pond already looked beautiful, but at night, the lighting gives it an entirely different feel, almost like a private resort right in their backyard.

Path Lighting for Safety and Ambiance

In addition to the pond lighting, we installed low-voltage path lights along the backyard walkways. These fixtures provide a soft, welcoming glow that makes it easier and safer to navigate the space after sunset.

Rather than overpowering the landscape, the path lights were carefully spaced to create subtle illumination that complements the pond and surrounding landscaping.
